June 30, 2016
It's come to that time of year again! We're just over a month away from the UK's favourite heavy festival BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR which means it's also time for our annual must watch list. The line up is as heavy as ever this year with headliners such as MASTODON, TWISTED SISTER and the almighty SLAYER.
So who will be the ones to watch and the ones to keep an eye out for? Read this post and find out!
EVIL SCARECROW ' FRIDAY - RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
If you haven't witnessed this band in action yet then do it, the band from Nottingham have songs about crabs and robots and even though that doesn't sound very metal well it really is. Have you seen metalheads scuttling around in a pit? Then you will witness it at Bloodstock. Vocalist Dr.Hell is one of the most charismatic vocalists around and drummer Monty Blitzfist is simply a machine on a drumkit. Expect EVIL SCARECROW to hit very big places soon.
FOETAL JUICE ' FRIDAY SOPHIE LANCASTER STAGE
If you like it heavy and prefer bands with disgusting names then FOETAL JUICE will appeal to you. The band which is brutal in every sense of the word hits the Sophie Lancaster stage on the Friday, which is a set that shouldn't be missed.
BEHEMOTH ' FRIDAY - RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
Polish giants BEHEMOTH will be gracing the main stage as special guests playing ''The Satanist'' in full, if that is not enough to make you want to buy a ticket then what will! The pyro will be strong and you will see a lot of corpse painted faces in the crowd, BEHEMOTH have built up a die-hard fan base due to their dedicated touring and notoriety.
TWISTED SISTER ' FRIDAY - RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
A strange addition above BEHEMOTH but still loved by fans, TWISTED SISTER will be performing one of their final ever sets at the UK festival this year. The band notorious for their glam make up and heavy but catchy tracks will be having the whole festival singing along to tracks such as ''We're Not Gonna Take It'' and ''I Wanna Rock''. Make sure you see the infamous group before they disappear!
ACKERCOCKE ' SATURDAY ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
The band which got announced with a lot of fans buying tickets instantly hit the stage on the morning of the Saturday, the band that have re-united have Bloodstock as their comeback UK festival to the delight of old fans and new.
ROTTING CHRIST ' SATURDAY ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
ROTTING CHRIST is the band that in 2014 packed out the Sophie Lancaster Stage and is still said to be one of the heaviest sets ever to have happened at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR. This time the band get chance to play on the mainstage to a gathering of hardcore fans, if you love it extremely heavy with a heavy dose of black metal then you will adore ROTTING CHRIST.
GOJIRA ' SATURDAY ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
With a brand new album out and already rave reviews, GOJIRA will be unmissable at Bloodstock this year. With previous performances winning the hearts of metal heads then this is surely going to be one of the best shows they will ever play. GOJIRA are pioneers of their own style of metal, bringing something special to every song.
MASTODON ' SATURDAY ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
MASTODON are certainly a band we didn't expect to headline the festival but we were pleased either way and Bloodstock are always one for bringing something new to the masses. Unless you have seen the band live before, you will have no idea what to expect but all we can hint at is crazy lighting, super heavy riffs and even stranger lyrics.
GHOST BATH ' SUNDAY ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
GHOST BATH have had a huge amount of hype recently and it's easy to see why with hard hitting music that is exactly what everyone has been looking for. This band is one of the best Depressive Black Metal bands to come out right now so expect to see them high up on line ups in the future.
HEART OF A COWARD ' SUNDAY ' RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
An unexpected late announcement but very well liked as they impressed hundreds on the last TRIVIUM tour but HEART OF A COWARD are putting all their hard work into playing the main stage. With hits such as ''Deadweight'', ''Hollow'' and many more they will be making many people surprised.
SLAYER ' SUNDAY ' RONNIE JAMES DIO
The infamous SLAYER are headlining the last day of the festival and they sure know how to keep it heavy like their set in 2013.
SLAYER is a must see band live and especially with their newer material like ''Repentless'' they will be better than ever, the band is a true classic thrash metal band that will never die.
