November 12, 2014
NWOBHM heroes Avenger will release their brand new album "The Slaughter Never Stops" on Rocksector Records on December 1st, 2014, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band's iconic debut album "Bloodsports". The new album includes 10 brand new songs plus a cover of Iron Maiden's "Killers", with artwork provided by guitarist Liam Thompson which includes references to the band's earlier records which will no doubt prove popular with fans. This eagerly-awaited new material recorded at BLAST Studios (Newcastle) and Leather Bear Studios (Sunderland) and produced by Dean Thompson sounds fresh and exciting, whilst without question retaining its' roots in 1980s NWOBHM. The song "Fate" has been available as an album teaser for free download for several months now, whilst from now a second song "In Arcadia Go" is also available as a free download at the Rocksector Records Soundcloud page: https://soundcloud.com/rocksector/avenger-in-arcadia-go
"The Slaughter Never Stops" is available now for pre-order as a special limited edition fanpack including: CD, poster, "Bloodsports" 30th Anniversary postcards, custom guitar pick & patch. See the Rocksector Records website www.rocksector.com for more details.
Brian Ross, Mick Moore and Gary Young founded the band in 1982, vocalist Ross later defecting to Satan whilst Satan's singer, Ian Swift, made the opposite move to join Avenger. The band's debut album "Bloodsports" was released in 1984. Avenger toured Europe widely, released a follow-up album, "Killer Elite", in 1985 before splitting later that same year. Avenger re-formed in 2005 & have toured with US rockers Y&T, as well as sharing stages with Twisted Sister, Candlemass, Saxon, Diamond Head and Raven.
