With a barnstorming debut album being recently released. The young Sicilian Thrash outfit XENOS are enjoying a period of notoriety. The guys are hugely proud of what they have achieved, and rightly so! I had the privilege to review their album "Filthgrinder" the other week and I found it to be fantastic. THE GONERS (2019) are a Riding Easy Records Swedish punk proto-metal garage rock band which rose from the cauldron of now-roached rock bands SALEM'S POT and YVONNE. The band jelled with members Mick Dagger and Grave Dave on guitar, the percussion section of Timo Tinto on bass and Vic Odin on drums. Nate Gone is the main songwriter, lead vocalist and also pitches in on guitar. Metal Temple writer Dani Bandolier had an email interview with the band to gaze into THE GONERS crystal ball of all things rock - past, present and rock future ... and to get a current weather report from Goner-landia.

In the late years of the 1990's, in Brazil, a new name came out on the graphic artworks for bands covers: Alcides Burn. The legendary artist from Recife, in the Northeast region of Brazil, is the one who signs graphic works for names as BLOOD RED THRONE, KEEP OF KALESSIN, KRISIUN, MALEFACTOR, NERVOCHAOS, HEADHUNTER D.C., REBAELLIUM and others.

Never say never. It might appear as a phrase of Grey, yet it also shares a glimpse of hope, at least for some people. Being against the grain, living on a certain edge artistically, not giving a damn on what is trend or what is cool, that sensation has its elements. Not every artist is a salesman after all, but also a source that spreads its true belief upon its followers. Returning with a blast in 2020, the Dutch Death / Thrash Metal Thanatos, are in with vengeance, going through changes, displaying their new offering "Violent Death Rituals", proving that delivering the goods is in many forms. Feeling old school is bound to remain playing old school, there is no reason to stray from an already known path, if their heart is still there. Of course, there is always a means to create a twist in the music. The Swedish Wombbath argues that their inspiration not necessarily comes from Death Metal, but I guess one will have to find out in their interview made with two of the band's veterans, Håkan Stuvemark & Jonny Pettersson, about the band's new album, "Choirs of the Fallen".

Out of the dark and into the light, sounds rather familiar don't you think? Well, Kreator aren't the reason why this phrase was mentioned. It is about continuance, not letting go and moving forward in order to maintain subtlety, the same motivation as in the past, yet under a different foundation. After being fired from Sodom, Bernd Kost and Markus Freiwald, didn't wish to stop writing and making music. Therefore, they founded Bonded, gathered a powerful musicians' core and signed to a great label. With their debut album, "Rest In Violence" out and about making havoc, Steinmetal had the chance to talk to Kost about the whole Sodom ordeal, the present and the future of Bonded and the new album.

When is a follow-up not a follow-up? When it's a prequel. Semantics aside, it takes a very disciplined, ambitious band to do not only one concept album as a debut, but to follow it up with another. But it's a logical course of action for Boston-based SEVEN SPIRES. More on the concept of that second album, "Emerald Seas" (Frontiers Music srl), later. Considering the band lists one of their influences as film scores, and since singer-keyboardist Adrienne Cowan is a trained composer, that's a natural – they are always thinking conceptually as they did on their first release, "Solveig."
