Pete Ahonen (Burning Point) interview
Hey there, Pete, how are you? I am thrilled to have this interview with you to the Metal Temple web magazine!

Hi Sharon! I'm excited too!

It has been 4 years since the band's last release. What took you so long?

Well, actually 3, but who's counting Late 2009 we decided to leave our previous label and although we had new music written, we weren't in a hurry to start the recordings or should I say, we weren't in a hurry to finish the new album…in between we recorded and released the 2nd GHOST MACHINERY album (2010) and the STARGAZERY's debut (2011)

Congratulations on your new album "The Ignitor". What was the concept?

Thanks! We are very happy of the outcome too!  Not really any "concept" behind it, just killer melodic Heavy Metal songs!

Which song from "The Ignitor" represents the best of BURNING POINT from your point of view?

It's really the whole album!

What have been the reactions of your fans for "The Ignitor" so far?

Well, as it isn't out yet, so not so much reactions from the fans, but great reviews though! But I'm sure fans will love it and also I hope we receive bunch of new ones too!

I must say that I love the combination of Melodic Heavy Metal and Hard rock. Do you think you've created a new genre? New rules to the game?

Thanks again Sharon for the nice words! No, I don't think we created any new genres etc. "Gunpowder" has been invented, we just add few ingredients to make it more explosive!

What are the band's influences?

Everyone has their own influences, but we share a love for Metal and Hard Rock of the 80's, ACCEPT, JUDAS PRIEST, DIO etc etc…

Pete, if I'll compare your vocal range and character to the late DIO, would you agree with that statement?

As huge Dio fan as I am, I have to say…no I'm well aware of my skills as a musician and I just do my very best of what I got!

How important for you to be reliable when it comes for singing and using the right instruments at the right time

Of course it's important that your "tools" are working, but I and we are used to make the best out of what we got at the time.

Are there any other music related projects you are involved with?

Yes, GHOST MACHINERY and STARGAZERY.

What are your future plans for BURNING POINT?

As for now we're promoting "The Ignitor" and try our best to organize more shows to play. Let's see what happens!

Thank you so much for your time, Pete, and for a great interview! I wish you the best and good luck! And finally, any message to your fans?

Thank you Sharon for sending these awesome questions! Thanks to ALL the BP fans for the support and we hope you'll love the new album as much as we loved to make it! We are proud, be proud too! Feel free to send any comments to our FB pages or guestbook etc! Long live The Ignitor!
