Hi Lior, thanx a lot. I am fine. I am just back from holiday in Greece! We have been for two weeks in Crete and it was brilliant! Furthermore new album is going to be relased pretty soon and we are eager to see if our fans will like it.

In the past we had a very stable line pp in PERZONAL WAR. Sascha and Sven played for years in the band. Björn replaced Sven for the last album "Bloodline" where he already played with us. Sascha left after the recordings because he just lost his fun in playing music. He left for one year to Australia and needed a change from work, band, etc. Now he is back and he is playing music again. Unfortunately also his follw-up Daniel quit the band after the recordings for personal reasons. He contributed brilliant solos for the album and we really have to thank him a lot and wish him all the best for the future.

In Björn and Andreas we have found nice guys who know how to play and who are personally really cool as well. It is very important for us to have a good relationship to each other because I think this is a basic point for playing music together. With the new Line Up and the new label we hope to have a really good time… on and off stage. And of course write even better songs 😉

We started pretty early with the recordings of "Captive Breeding". For nearly two years we have the stuff ready. But for AFM and us didn´t want to make another album together we had to figure out what other possibilities we have… and that needed much time as you might know the music market has changed a lot during the last years. I hope we found the right home in Metalville who are a small but very motivated label and only release few albums in a year. Beside the band Martin had to work a lot in his studio; I became a father in 2010 what changed a lot as well. So we just took the time it needed to finish an album that we like most. But I can imagine that for outstanding people it seems we are lazy bastards hahahahahaha.

To be honest we just found that the title sounds pretty cool hahahahaha. Björn came up with the idea and we thought it would fit pretty good to the whole lyrical concept. We chose this insect artwork what stands a bit for the "Personal War" as well. The insect that is different from the others gets eaten. Maybe you can find parallels to our society as well. So many unwritten rules, decisions from politicians that in few cases act for the common people, more for themselves lead to a more and more "two-class" society.

It was very cool to work with Daniel who, in my eyes, did a very good job. Although Andreas is the new guy in Perzonal War we have to thank Daniel for his great work on this album. And of course we are also looking forward for the next recordings with Andreas.

But in the case of "Captive Breeding" it was cool to have a guitar player who nearly can play everything! Daniel is really talented and kicks my ass in many ways with his abilities. I care about the rhythm stuff while he did the crazy lead shit. And of course it is always fun to work together as band; Martin managed again the job as producer and drummer at once and so nobody tells us what to do. We are our own chiefs 😉

Mhhhh… hard to say. I would say my favorites are "Dead Man´s Theories", "Incarnation" and "Candor Hurts". But I also like the other stuff as well… that was also the reason for us to use all songs we have written for the album. I think every song has its strong moment depending in what mood you are.

I don´t miss those times for it turned out to be a normal development for us to go into a different direction. In the past we did the songs that fit into the moment; now we do what PERZONAL WAR stands for in 2012. Strange is that we seem to get heavier from album to album. I think a possible reason for this is, that you have enough other things to care of like job, family, etc. that the band turns out to get more and more a ventile to let everything out hahahaha.

To be honest I don´t know… but I would say this is not important for me. Our idea behind PERZONAL WAR was from the beginning to play what we like most. And that didn´t change. I can say that I play with PERZONAL WAR the music I like most and of course by the years you get new and other influences than in the early days. I am still a big fan of the American Thrash metal. Beside the Big Four bands like OVERKILL, FORBIDDEN, etc. and also the German Thrash acts like DESTRUCTION, KREATOR and SODOM influenced PERZONAL WAR. But we are also open for modern tunes and I personally like to use my voice in different ways; not just for the typical Thrash Metal screaming. In my eyes we still have a good balance between heaviness and melody and that´s a trademark that not all Thrash bands have.

Since Andy Allendörfer, the former chief of AFM died some years ago, everything has changed regarding AFM. Since he passed there was no more real support from the label and I think no one at AFM really stood behind PERZONAL WAR anymore. We hope that in Metalville we have found a new home with better communication – as I mentioned they are smaller but hopefully more motivated to push the few bands they have. We will see if we made the right decision next time we speak hahahaha.

To be honest we didn´t search for a long while. We know Andreas from his work with Paul Di Anno; and he even played together with Daniel in the same band before. For us it is important to have someone in the band who knows to play his instrument but at the same time is a nice guy. This is far more important than his abilities. You spend time together, sit in a bus, have to rehearse and this would not work if you have someone in the band who turns out to be an asshole. We knew him long before he came to PERZONAL WAR and know he is a good one 😉

Of course we hope to get the chance to play as many shows as possible. We plan to do a tour in fall of this year and hope it works. So far we hope to get as many festivals as well but at the moment we have only plans for Germany. But I have to mention that the two shows we played in Greece in Athens and Tessaloniki are still highlights of our 16 years of playing together. I really hope that your country gets stable again and that the problems decline. Hopefully we will return when we get the chance… GREECE: YOU ROCK!!!
