A strange thing happened to me on 10.02.2015, a day before a show I was supposed to review; a dream I add in the night. I was at a show, things were blurry, but I could hear the music; it was a Classic and Hard Rock and even some Prog, however when I turned my head I saw a strange crowd; many older folks, and a few smatterings of young people; it was puzzling. I shook my head and slowly I was gaining my consciousness back, to close my eyes hoping to wake up and see myself in my warm bed, however the moment I opened my eyes I saw myself standing in the middle of a huge crowed of people of all ages and above the stage was a big sigh and that was when I saw
URIAH HEEP It's not a secret that I'm a big fan of Classic Hard Rock and Classic Prog, however I was astonished by the large crowed of mature people and youngster all together coming to see this amazing band that started playing ten years before I was even born.
So URIAH HEEP, I want do a history course here just explain something's, URIAH HEEP are an English Rock band formed in London in 1969, they heralded the progressive rock movement of the decade. URIAH HEEP Progressive/Art Rock/Heavy Metal fusion's distinctive features have always included a massive keyboard sound, strong vocal harmonies. URIAH HEEP realized an amazing twenty four albums in their life span, releasing a new album just in 2014, the album named "Outsider" and before going back on the road, the band had several lineup changes but it can be understood for a forty and some years-old band.
This isn't the first time URIAH HEEP are performing in Israel, it's their prime time; not many bands come to Israel for six times and still fill the house with people that are eager to listen to the band, however it was my first time seeing time live, even though if you are following my reviews and I know you do, you probably already know that I'm a big big fun of the classic rock of the 70's with the touches of psychedelic rock, exactly what URIAH HEEP stands for.
Like many bands that release a new album and goes to a tour, URIAH HEEP performed many songs from the new album, Outsider, however they performed all of their classic tracks; some are amazing Psychedelic Rock like "The Magician's Birthday" and didn't forget the amazing "July Morning" that I will say it here that it's one of my favorite tracks of all time.
Mick Box, the only original band member on guitar mesmerized the crowed and had a great connection with the fans, and I didn't forget about the instrumental section with the drummer Russell Gilbrook, the two of them playing in perfect rockin' harmony.
Didn't forget Phil Lanzon the keyboard virtuoso that alongside Davey Rimmer on bass completed an amazing line up with Bernie Shaw on Vocals; Bernie Shaw is the vocalist from 1986 (wanna get to the history of all vocalist player in the band?), Bernie Shaw showed an amazing virtuosity, singing with operatic style vocals and kept an amazing connection with the fans all time.
When "Lady in black" started the crowded was fired up and the temperature in the hall could melt steel, even the old people and I mean the really old people, started to stamp there leg, the screams for an encore was so loud that I barely even heard that the band came back to the two more amazing classic tracks, "Gypsy" and the unforgettable "Easy living".
I think that the best time to understand how good a show that was is in the swarm out from the show when people are saying what is on their mind and I was listening to every little quote; to conclude to you it was simply an amazing show. No bullshit, just pure, classic, Hard Rock music,
