Heavy rains fell down over the Rio the Janeiro city that day, but Teatro Odisséia opened its doors to another great event: the release party of CONFRONTO's new CD, "Imortal". And as guest bands, I saw LACERATED AND CARBONIZED, BANDANOS and CERVICAL.
The first band to go up to the stage were the Hardcore quartet CERVICAL, from Macaé city (North of Rio de Janeiro state), and they did a good show, with high doses of energy. The band setlist was based upon their CD "Caminhos Da Dor", with songs like "Dar o Sangue", "Sem Piedade", and the excellent "Vencer", with some fans doing slamdancing and singing along with the band, that is totally insane on the stage, especially their vocalist, Pascoal Mello, that is moving always, even coming to the middle of slamdancig ring. But it's a pity for a great part of the fans weren't at the house in their show.
Setlist:
1. Veritas
2. Dar o Sangue
3. Sem Piedade
4. Caminhos da Dor
5. A Dor da Fome
6. Nossa História
7. Auto Destruição
8. Remanejar a Vergonha
9. Vencer
The second band is the veterans of war,
BANDANOS, from São Paulo. They do an old school Crossover in the vein of
SUICIDAL TENDENCIES. High dynamism, the band felt at ease on the stage, with good moves from the vocalist
Crisplatterhead and bassist
Lauro, and did a show based upon their various releases, and with songs like "
Indiferença", the hymn
"Te Amo, Porra!", and another as "
Vinyl Addiction" and
"Speed Metal II", and they gained new fans, of course.
It's time for a new album of them.
Setlist:
1. Épica
2. Indiferença
3. Vinyl Addiction
4. Speed Metal II
5. Testamento
6. Te Amo Porra!
7. Only 4 Good Thrashers

10. Polêmica
11. Justiça das Ruas
12. Subliminal
The brutal touch of the night was given by the Brutal Death Metal quartet LACERATED AND CARBONIZED, from Rio de Janeiro.
Brutal, heavy, bitter as Hell and intense as a gamma bomb, the made an excellent show, with very good attitude on stage (Caio and Paulo never stopped on single minute, and change their places many times), Jonathan is a great frontman, having constant communication with the audience, and Victor is one of Brazil's best Metal drummers.
The greater part of the setlist came from the latest CD,
"The Core of Disruption", as
"L.A.C.",
"Awake the Thirst" and
"BloodDawn", but they played some from their first album,
"Homicidal Rapture", as
"Seed of Hate" and
"Homicidal Rapture" itself. But when they played
"Third World Slavery", the music from their first video, the entire house singed with then and the public became insane, throwing themselves against the stage violently. And this writer became full of pains in the body due this moment, but I'm not complaining for that. I'm a Metalhead, so I'm used to that and proud of it.
They left the stage acclaimed for everyone, and left us all with the certain that they will become one of the greatest names on Brazilian extreme Metal scene very soon.
One point I need to talk about: the vocalist
Jonathan always was telling that no matter if you like Metal, Hardcore or other, for all of us are into the underground, so, we need to be united.
Setlist:
1. L.A.C.
2. Awake the Thirsty
3. O Ódio e o Caos
4. BloodDawn
5. Seed of Hate
6. Homicidal Rapture
7. Unnatural Aggression
8. Call for Blood
9. Final Enclosure
10. Third World Slavery
12. System Torn Apart
Ending the event, it was the time for the name of the night to enter the stage: CONFRONTO.
And they came, they saw, and conquered, being perfect in all aspects upon the stage.
Felipe Chehuan is a fine frontman, having the public in his hands all the time, with very good communication, and guitarist Max and the bassist Eduardo never stay stopped in the same place for a long time, and the drummer Felipe (our dear brother "Little Felipe") is a powerhouse for band's music. Their alchemy of Hardcore and Metal put the audience in total chaos from the beginning of the show to the very end, since "Imortal", and hymns as "Infanticídio", "Flores da Guerra", "Revolução", "Sangria", "Meu Inferno", but when they played "Santuário das Almas", hell was on earth, for everyone in the house was throwing themselves against the stage, singing with Felipe, and at the end of the song, Felipe made a stage dive, being carried by the public. And the quartet thanked all of us for our presence there.
And a feeling we clearly have is that they never let their fame go up to their heads, for their attitude is very easy to understand:
CONFRONTO and their public are one.
Setlist:
1. Abolição
2. Imortal
3. Flores da Guerra
4. Revolução
5. Vale da Morte
6. De Igual Para Igual
7. Infanticídio
8. Ocupação
9. Guerra, Queda e Morte
10. 1 Hr
11. Meu Inferno
12. Sangria
13. Levante
14. Aos Dragões
15. Santuário das Almas
A very good event, indeed, but this writer will never understand why some people pay to see four bands, and eventually attend to only one or two of them…Some tried to explain, but I'll never understand this…
