A few days ago I went to Gagarin 205 to see one of the most well known death metal bands, performing live. OBITUARY visited Greece again for two live shows, one in Athens and one in Thessaloniki, and I believe that their fans left both of them pleased from what they saw.

Since 99.9% of the times, the concerts here in Greece starts with a delay, me and Giannis Zervos, went 40 minutes later than the time written on the ticket. A wise move indeed! We were wandering if there would be a support band or not. But since it was getting late, Me and Giannis were sure that OBITUARY would be solo that night. By the time they hit the stage, not more than 700 metalheads were in the hall. When the first notes were heard, mayhem unleashed in the crowd and even though the band had some sound problems and they made big pauses between the songs, their fans didn't seem to care about it. You could see one mosh pit created after the other, the crowd surfing went on and on and everybody that came that night had a wonderful time. The sound was getting better as the band continued to play and the light show was the one that a band like OBITUARY should have. The only part from the whole show I didn't like, and I think it was quite tiresome was a drum solo that hold more than 8 minutes. On the other hand, I thought that it was something they had to do, for Tardy to catch a breath.

Overall, the band performed very well, despite the sound problems. After seventy minutes of pure death Metal assault, well 55 minutes if you count out the drum solo and the small pauses, most of us were exhausted but with a huge smile on our faces. Even though me and John tried to find a set list, they didn't have one. But who cares for the set list! We listened old hymns like Cause Of Death and newer songs. What stays in the end is that we had a great time, not the songs themselves!
