Devouring Eclipse of Darkest Realm
Cadaver Carnivore
As war still rages on between Ukraine and Russia, all people must have in mind that the ones to be blamed are the politicians (especially Vladimir 'Stalin' Putin), and not the Russian people. In terms of Metal, one must have in mind that Russian Metal acts aren't to blame, so all of us still can hear Russian Metal without feeling a kind of guilty (again: the one to blame is the dictator in power on Russia and his supporters). With this idea clear in mind, one can enjoy "Devouring Eclipse of Darkest Realm", the first full-length of the Russian act CADAVER CARNIVORE (that is based on the city of Nowosibirsk). The band, in reality, is a one man band centered on Dimitry Krasnopeev, and presents a form of Classic Death Metal that is brutal to the point of breaking bones, but filled with a very good technical work (especially on the rhythmic shifts ("Dark God" presents some traits of Brutal Death Metal as well), with some parts with keyboards and clean instruments creating a set of atmospheric moments (as can be heard on the eerie ambiences of "Dai Dark").
In a resumed form: it's traditional in terms of Death Metal, but with some traits that points for a band that thinks out of the box. And it's really a very good album to be heard loudly. "Devouring Eclipse of Darkest Realm" was mixed and mastered by Dimitry himself, and even being brutal and distorted, it shows a care with the total expression of the songs are up to (what, changing words, means that anyone can hear on understand what's being played). It's a very good final result, and on the vocals, here is Andrey 'Zubr' Raevskiy as guest.
Maybe one must be advised before listening to "Devouring Eclipse of Darkest Realm": this album has many unconventional parts that are easy to be heard, and it's a surprise to deal with songs as "Dai Dark" (the darkened ambiences created keyboards enriches its brutal and creative arrangement, especially on the guitars), "Evil of All Humanity" (a song with a clear technical insight due some rhythmic shifts presented by bass guitar and drums), "Dark God" (a chaotic 'lovecraftian' feeling rises of its arrangements, with abrasive guitars allowing the shifts between grunts and snarls of the vocals), "Eternal Damnation" (this one is into a more Symphonic Death Metal tendency due the use of nasty horror-like keyboards orchestrations), "Demon's Blood" (the fine and introspective intro precedes a brutal and disturbing set of darkened melodies and storming rhythmic arrangements of bass guitar and drums), "Divine Heresy" (this one has moments that are more into a traditional Death Metal tendency mixed with atmospheric Symphonic Death Metal moments), and "In Abyss We Fall". And these are the right ones for a first ride on the album, even with it being a homogeneous release.
CADAVER CARNIVORE really is surprising, because as the listeners have sequential experiences on "Devouring Eclipse of Darkest Realm", the more its beauties will be revealed.
