The Medea Project - Reflections album cover

From their EPK, "You stare into the mirror, your own eyes staring back at you; at least that's how it's supposed to be. But there's something wrong in that reflection... an old wisdom you have never known in that face on the other side; a wicked, excited gleam in those eyes that know they are toying with your understanding of the world. Very slowly, very deliberately the mirror creature blinks and allows a mirthless smile to spread across its face. You reach to touch the glass but your inverted image fails to respond in kind. Instead it turns and walks away,
down the hallway, deeper into that house that seems so like your own. It beckons you to follow, then steps from summer light into twilight shadow - and is gone." The album has four songs, and two are covers.

"The Ghost of St Augustines MMXXII" is the first. The opening tones are rich, slow, and doomy. Clean vocals enter, and the drums begin to march. Harsh vocals follow, and their echo can be heard through the hallowed halls. After the half-way mark, the song goes deeper, but there are just a bit of phasing issues. "Warhead" is a little faster and perhaps a bit more dark, and shadowy. The harsh vocals rattle in the valley as the cry for war begins. "Warhead," he screams, over and over again, as the instruments create a desolate sound. "Cain" begins with drums, smooth vocals, and bass notes lurking in the background. In come the harsh vocals, and hopelessness enters with them. As the song rolls, you feel every shred of anything good in your life disappear.

"Nightmare/The Dreamtide" closes the album. The electronic notes in the beginning are eerie, and combine with solemn spoken words. I know that I have heard this song before, but I can't remember who did the original. I like the band's take on this song. It's heavy, and dreadful. Four songs is a short take on what a band is capable of, but I do feel as though I have enough to write about. Their brand of Gothic Doom is harrowing, dreadful, and memorable, and I would like to hear more from them in the future.
