Imagika - Feast For The Hated album cover

The feelings I have right now cannot be described at all! I mean, IMAGIKA is honestly one of the best and fucking heaviest bands out there! A band that never compromised and created its own unique sound raising proudly its middle finger to trends and all the goddamn wannabes! Don't you just love a band when it manages to sound both old school and up to date with the 2008's Metal scene at the same time? Personally, I adore such a talent in a band!

Since their formation in 1993, the band has managed to develop a respectable status in the Metal scene. I had the chance to get in touch with IMAGIKA's music in 2001, when their And So It Burns album fell in my hands for reasons that I really can't remember right now. Since then, I started becoming a die hard IMAGIKA fan and the band has kept on releasing incredible albums!

The fact that the famous Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND) was responsible for the mixing of this album and the news that the band would use gear that the new endorsement deal with Mesa Boogie offers them prepared me for a fucking heavy sound attack. La Rocque is incredible behind the console and I am a fan of the Mesa Boogie gear. And so I was right... The sound is exactly what I expected, making the guitars sound like a monster truck that brings you down and the rhythm section sound like a nuclear bomb destroying even the last sign of life.

Such kind of music was always based on the people that were talented enough to take the most of the weight on their backs. IMAGIKA managed to create what they created until now mostly due to their amazing guitar twins and their charismatic singers. Rice and Krick are definitely not Tipton and Downing, but they are definitely one of the best guitar twins that you can find in this unfairly forgotten Thrash/Power Metal scene. Bands like IMAGIKA, MELIAH RAGE, AGENT STEEL and many more unfortunately never got what they deserved, although they keep being a great companion with their passionate and honest tunes.

I may look amazed, but IMAGIKA have definitely released stuff that seemed more attracting to me. Feast For The Hated is amore than decent US Thrash/Power Metal album with great guitar work, powerful vocals and a production that kicks major ass, but comparing it to some of their earlier works, I think they could do slightly better. Anyway, I still enjoy listening to it since I can't find many bands like these guys, bands that are always up to date with the needs of a metalhead. The past meets the future, and IMAGIKA are on time for this date.

PS: Argh, I want David Michael back in this band. His performance in And So It Burns still haunts me. Skinner fucking rulez, but without any offense he can't match Michael in my own eyes.
