Harbinger
Inverted Matter
Death Metal can transcend some limits and frontiers sometimes, because musicians of many nations can gather together to make something in musical form. It's not hard today to see that due the wide range of possibilities that internet gave to the world (today, a band can have production, mixing and mastering from a known sound engineer that lives on other continent). And INVERTED MATTER is one case of international efforts, and the band's second album, "Harbinger", is really a powerful blow of energy and aggressiveness. On the band's line-up are musicians from Italy and USA, and to play a form of traditional Death Metal with a modern tack (what doesn't mean that they gather influences of Modern Metal genres, for the ones who have a negative bias against them), and they have a good technical work (the needed level for their songs to be expressed as they want), a sharp and brutal energy flowing from all the songs, and a perfect combination between the musical instruments and the vocals.
It can't be said as a new reform on Death Metal, but's very good and full of personality. "Harbinger" was recorded and mixed by Jason Nealy and Marco Dussin at Badrum studio, and they worked in a form that allows the band to have a brutal and weighty sonority, what the genre needs. In other hand, even with this pyroclastic approach, it's not hard to understand what is being expressed by the band (only the tunes on the snare drum could be better).
The band's music can bring some surprises, even for the experienced Death Metal fans, as can be heard on moments as "RAD" (this one bears many Hardcore hooks that are traditional to Death Metal, and what great guitar riffs, solos and arrangements), "Scenario" (an abrasive song with focus on slower tempos, with a very good technical work of bass guitar and drums on rhythmic contrasts), "Enrollment" (another song filled with a great riffing from the guitars, and many influences of 80's Death Metal can be heard), "Ecdisys" (an oppressive set of slow and heavy tempos are heard, and what good work of the vocals), and "P-Tr". But this album is really easy to hear and to like.
INVERTED MATTER really shows a very good musical work on "Harbinger", so be prepared for the massacre, spin the disc and let you ears be turned into dust!
