The Erinyes
The Erinyes
Since the 70's, many bands using symphonic music elements are heard time and time again. But from time to time, some unusual works of bands using such elements appear, and can surprise those that aren't ready for new experiences. This time, an international effort (uniting members of Italy, France and Brazil) comes in the form of THE ERINYES, the Greek goddesses known as The Furies, and the band is releasing its first album, "The Erinyes".
The difference between septet music from others is the presence of three known female Metal singers, what offers to the fans a set of contrasts on the vocals. The whole musical experience offered by the band is a form of Symphonic Metal/Rock, full of energy and with many melodic and symphonic contrasts created by the guitars and keyboards. Of course one can say about the work of THE SIRENS (that band that had Anneke van Giersbergen, Liv Kristine and Kari Rueslåtten), but the band released only three singles, as THE ERINYES offers a whole album that is full of energy, with contrasts between harsh aggressive moments with tender melodic parts. Dive into it, and experience the album!
Aldo Lonobile produced the album, and worked along with Federico Pennazzato on the mixing and mastering (and Irene Shapes took part during the recordings of Nicoletta's vocals). The final result is an album that bears the clarity and sonority usual for Symphonic Metal releases, but with some roughness in many moments (due the tunes of the guitars). But it's extremely easy to hear and understand what's being played.
One can say that the focus of the band is on its singers, but's a mistake to think in this way, because the instrumental parts of the band are really amazing. And as the best songs to start with "The Erinyes" are "Drown the Flame" (the contrasts of the vocals are perfect, fitting in the very good instrumental arrangements of keyboard and guitars), "On My Way to Love" (that is heavier and abrasive, filled with many good guitar riffs and arrangements), "Betrayed" (what lovely melodies heard, in that way that's impossible to resist), "Death by a Broken Heart" (pay attention to its catchy melodies and the weight of bass guitar and drums), "Someday" (there are many silk and melodic moments that are great), "Paradise" (another song that has many tender hooking melodies) and "You and Me Against the World".
It's hard to say if "The Erinyes" will have a sequence in the future, for the musicians have their own separate works. So the best is to enjoy what is offered by THE ERINYES now.
