To create music different from others isn't an easy task, because as a genre becomes old and solidified, some musical experiments can't be done due the rejection of the fans (and one must remind that a musician is, before anything, a fan). So to mix elements of old Metal genres can be a fine choice to make something different of what already is being done or was done in the past. And this the strategy used by the North American act LANGUISH, as can be heard on "Feeding the Flames of Annihilation". It's a form of Old School Blackened Death Metal (that uses some slow paced tempos inherited of Brutal Death Metal) mixed with Grindcore elements, like one could throw NAPALM DEATH, early CARCASS, MORBID ANGEL and SARCÓFAGO into a boiling cauldron and have their music as a result, but pay attention: these words don't mean that the band is clone.

No, they're not, and their music is aggressive, nasty and crude, exploding with an amazing energy that can bind the extreme Metal fans easily. As usual for releases of this specific genre, the sonority of "Feeding the Flames of Annihilation" presents a brutal and filthy outfit, something crude and nasty to increase the aggressiveness. It's a very good result, because even done in this way the understanding of what is being expressed is not hard.

As Grindcore influences are in the mix, the fans can expect short songs on the album (only two of them last more than 3 minutes), what improves the extreme Metal hooks heard on them. But as the best shots for a first visit on the band's work, one can say that "Manifesto" (a pure Grindcore song, plenty of brutal and aggressive Hardcore influences, based on sharp guitar riffs), "Last Legs" (that brings some slow appeal, but keeping the brutal outfit of the band's music), "Ripped Remains" (another fast piece, with grunts and shrieks contrasting in a very good way), "Parasite" (that presents a more Death Metal orientation on its musical structure, with very good playing of bass guitar and drums), "Judas Goat" (another one where Hardcore influences can be heard clearly), "Feeding the Flames" (this is another song in a more traditional Death Metal trend, with excellent disgusting guitar arrangements and slow tempos), and "Corporate Dystopia" depict what they're up to do: to keep your ears bleeding and whistling for hours.

One can say that "Feeding the Flames of Annihilation" presents a band that needs to evolve a bit more, that has to sharp their musical efforts. But no one can deny that LANGUISH is really a very good name.
