Impious - Hellucinate album cover

The name Impious wasn't familiar to me. Not because they are newcomers or something; on the contrary, this is their 4th album so far and the band has existed for over a decade, which rather means that I've been kinda ignorant about them. The incredibly alluring cover grabbed my attention and I decided to give them a try to find out whether or not this time a book could be judged by its cover. Thankfully, Impious will not be another band that I'll remember only for it's impressive artwork.
Honestly, these guys perform such dynamic and high octane Death/Thrash that could not possibly pass unmentioned if someone had the chance to taste it. With religious devoutness, they put their hands upon the Evangels of Slayer,Sadus, Testament, At The Gates and The Haunted (that sounds pretty paradox considering the fact that Impious actually debuted 1 year earlier than them, but the similarities are undoubted) to spread further more the disease. With so many mushy bands from Gothenburg that popped out the last 5 years I didn't expect a band hailing from there to deliver such fierce and aggressive music and that made me sympathize them even more.
Of course I cannot claim that the band pulses from originality or it stands to be an apocalypse for the music's standards. Despite the amount of cliches or the scattering that reminds me of something, Hellucinate is an album that can be enjoyed because it supports the standards that the genre's fans have set. There are neither smurfy melodies nor Hardcore or Nu-Metal half-breed adjustments. Only straight-to-your-face attitude that sometimes is more appreciated than the so called modern and progressive vulgarities. If you add to this the spotless production and the stout performing, this album guarantees plenty hours of enjoyable listening.
I feel a bit uncomfortable that as a fan, above all, I didn't happen to check them out until now. The fact that Impious don't hold some kind of reputation is also quite awkward, a reputation which they surely deserve judging from Hellucinate, the same time other similar and often inferior bands do (blasted promotion...). My duty as an editor was to introduce them to you the way they deserve it and I feel that each of us, who is into this kind of music, should treat them likewise.
