StreetLight Circus - Super Fine Sugar album cover

On September 2022 ESCAPE MUSIC relised STREETLIGHT CIRCUS third full-lenght-album entitled "Super Fine Sugar" featuring the guests, Tony Harnell (TNT), Brian Forsythe (KIX), Berton Averre (THE KNACK), Jesper and Jacob Binzer (D-A-D), and Jon Auer (The Posies) adding quality to this. In their new work the band brings a direct, pure and honest rock N roll, following the same path as their predecessors "Needle Down" and the self-titled debut "Streetlight Circus". The New Yorker band is proud to get another independent launch inspired by bands like ALICE COOPER, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, NEW YORK DOLLS and on. The songs were mixed by Bob St. John, Grammy winner, so you can expect nothing but the best here, sounding as clean and nice as possible.

The first song bears the name of the album "Super Fine Sugar", showing the listener a very classic musicality of old rock, without many nuances in its riffs. "Drive It Like Stole It" immediately brings me the KISS band in mind with good entries from the back vocals for much of its extension, the presence of two guitar solos pleased me quite a lot. "Cherry Cola" enters and plays on the taste world bringing a smooth and funny rhythm, the chorus is incredible and sticky as a mochi (Japanese rice cake) and you can be sure that it will stay inside your mind for many hours. The next song "EX Machina" is one of the faster and heaviest of this work highlighting David Shaw's excellent lead vocals. Next up we have we have "Pay My Rent" taking down a bit the pace, the piano presence here fits perfect to the composition, being a highlight in my opinion. On "Dirty Earth" we will find a very melodic chorus and heavy guitars in between, the riffs here reminded me lots of BLACK SABBATH and LED ZEPPELIN guitars. "Take Me To River" plays with different types of vocals and "This Means War" has a deeper and serious lyrics bringing some thoughts about social issues to reflect on it having sort of a Punk Rock refined RAMONES catch and then we pass to "Trouble" has no trouble to attach good Blues elements.

Then we arrived in the last quarter of the album Clown Paradise" instantly makes you bang your head with its rhythm groove. " Zero At The Bone" "Rattle The Cage" ends up keeping the good work here, something bothered me a little here, living me the impression that those two song are very similar to each other's, maybe bringing only one would be better. STREETLIGHT CIRCUS news album surprised me in a very good way I must say, didn't expect much when I started to hear it, but on roll of song and after hearing several times, I got very excited, that being said "Super Fine Sugar" is more than super recommended, especially for fans of classic Rockers.
