Dynazty - Final Advent album cover

Musical labels are done just to try to describe what one is hearing, and not something to define the musical taste of the fans. But there are many people that say 'I'm-strictly-a-something-Metal-fan', and it's hard to understand how they are able to leave aside a universe of musical possibilities (maybe it's a reflex of the 'manowarian' radical speech on the 80's). Sorry, but as truth resides on the side of those who see reality as it is, such thing is ridiculous. And for them, maybe the amazing work as presented by the Swedish quintet DYNAZTY on "Final Advent" will pass by.

To describe their musical work isn't so easy, because they blend features of classic Hard Rock (the way WHITESNAKE, DEEP PURPLE and others work on music) with elements of Heavy/Power Metal, creating a massive and melodic form of music that is easy to be swallowed (due the catchy melodies and choruses), but heavy as an anvil (pay attention to this aspect on "Advent"), as a combination of the better moments of HELLOWEEN with PINK CREAM 69 (but not as a copy of these bands, please). It is really full of energy and personality, and sounds modern and alive, full of excellent arrangements, and so on, then, what are you waiting for to taste it? The quintet produced the album itself, but wisely brought Jacob Hansen (who mixed and mastered the album). The result of this alliance is something clean and defined, where everything can be easy understood without efforts, but permeated by a modern and abrasive weight. And what great piece of art created for the cover by the Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes.

It's hard to choose a set of better moments due the homogeneity of "Final Advent", and it sounds as a heavy, solid and melodic battering ram. The album opens with the melodic and crushing grasp of "Power of Will" (fine keyboards arrangements, and what lovely and catching chorus), and "Advent" shows the same elements (this one is a modern massacre of heavy rhythms, with a brutal work of bass guitar and drums, and another excellent chorus is presented). Following, there is the combination of elements of Power Metal with Pop Metal touches that is clear on some moments of "Natural Born Killer" (what amazing vocals), the 80's approach used on "Yours" (a deep and tender ambience is create by the guitars and keyboards, with a precious chorus), and another moments with clear influences of Hard Rock and Glam Metal is presented on "All the Devils are Here" and "The White" (due to the catchy accessible melodies used in both, and the choruses that are easy to sing along).

Following comes the oppressive weight combined with remarkable melodies show on "Instinct" and "Heart of Darkness" (maybe the use of some modern tunes on the guitars are the reason for it), the slow paced tempos that reinforces the weight heard on "Achilles Heel", and the accessible appeal of "Power of Now" (but pay attention to the Power Metal-like parts that precedes the guitar solos). Yes, it's not possible to leave a song without mention. "Final Advent" shows that it is a strong candidate to be in the list of the best albums of the year, and DYNAZTY is really in a great and inspired moment of the band's career. Taste it!
