Obliterating Science
Hild
HILD is the new outfit from Lars Broddesson. It is a strife and battle-themed project centered around the Valkyries of Nordic mythology. Each song honoring a specific Valkyrie, channeling their respective traits on the battlefield. Fierce forces to imbue our beings, timeless traits for each of our struggles. The outlet is raw, straightforward energy that takes no prisoners, wastes no time. Labeling itself "Violent Swedish Metal" HILD is a Thrash Metal based outfit, infused with currents of Black and Death Metal as well as some old-school Swedish Crust and Hardcore.
The album contains two short tracks. "Rota" is just over two-minutes in length. The song is fairly straightforward, sounding a bit like a blackened MOTORHEAD, with shouted vocals and a powerful riff. The commanding sound indeed takes no prisoners. "Thogn" is the second offering...a two-minute blast of thick guitars and vocals. These aren't riffs that you haven't heard before, but they are played with energy and confidence.
What can I say about two very short tracks? Well, the album has determination and tenacity, and I sincerely hope that the band has more up their sleeve for future offerings, because I like the combination of styles presented.
