Dreams For Sale
InterCore
In the melodic rock music I've always been a big fan of the original line-up of DOKKEN. The kind of music they played just did something to me. And as much as you love music and can explain that you love what you hear, you can't always explain why that is the case. INTERCORE does the same to me with their debut album "Dreams For Sale". This is good stuff, plus like DOKKEN they give the guitars so much space to shine it's refreshing.
INTERCORE originates from Gothenburg in Sweden and has taken over four years to complete the record the way they wanted it. You can hear the great guitars from the opening tones of "Summerdream", which has a definite DOKKEN feel. I'm sure they wouldn't have objected to adding this to their repertoire. "Leave It All Behind" is a tad softer, more mellow, followed by "Kilimanjaro", which is an amalgamation of the former two. But what's more evident is the quality of song writing these guys are portraying. Even the ballads "Mother Mary" and "I Still Hear You" show what INTERCORE is capable of.
Other songs that stand out? Well, I have to mention the heavy melodic rockers "Tomorrow Is Another Day" and "Dreams For Sale", but if I do that I also need to include "It's Not A Dream", "Stars Are Mine", "Little Sister" and "Trash In The Trunk", because they're all that good. Oh, I just realise I've mentioned every song. Deservedly so, as "Dreams For Sale" is one hell of an album.
So why no 10? Simple: although the lyrics are quite good and really fit the music, they're just too simple, too predictable. If the topics and used language are expanded and they keep up this quality of music I'm sure they'll succeed.
