Rites of Extermination
Krossfyre
In a time when some old genres are being brought back from the past, the best thing for some bands is to make experiments as such moldy and eroded forms can be done in a way that anyone can assimilate today. There are no magical formulas by now, but some are harvesting good results, as BEWITCHED, ENFORCED, AXECUTER and others. And the Spanish quartet KROSSFYRE makes its try on "Rites of Extermination".
Their musical efforts are fused on a blend between Black/Thrash Metal with Speed Metal aspects. And it means that it's brutal and fast, aggressive, but with very good melodic parts created by the guitars, what creates a very good set of contrasts between instrumental sheet and the vocals. Of course, such a genre was done time and time again since the 80's, but they do things in a way that is full of energy and catchy moments. So the future for them is an open wide door, and the rest is in their hands. For now, it's a good release. J.F. (one of the band's guitarists) did the mixing and mastering of "Rites of Extermination", and the final result is a sonority that tries to emulate the organic approach of the past with a good level of sound definition. It's not what their music asks for, but it's good for a first release.
Their eight songs show a band with potential and talent to be a relevant name in their genre. For now, it's a very good experience to hear what they express on songs as "Rivers of Fire" (a brutal and oppressive song in an Old School way, with a solid approach on the rhythm due bass guitar and drums playing), "Rites of Extermination" (fine contrasts created by the guitars), "Casus Belli" (this is an amazing song, filled with slow and melodic parts, and the snarling vocals fits on the instrumental in a very good way), "Law of the Jackals" (the Hardcore influences are evident in many moments), and "Spit-Bullet". These are the best ones for a first time.
All that's left to say is that "Rites of Extermination" is a good and honest release, and working and sharping their songs in a better way is what KROSSFYRE should do. For now, be welcome, guys. And to the reader: listen and enjoy.
