Multicultural efforts are done in the world to wipe away historical/social problems as xenophobia, racism, homophobia and others that insist to exist. In music, many bands with members from different countries are showing that the hatred manifests are things created by ignorance of men in front of what they're not used to seeing, and some bands show how union is better than hate. One of them is the Israeli based quartet VESSEL, and their first release, the 5-songs EP "Behind the Walls" is out now.
In the band are two Brazilian guys, one of them is from Spain, and the last one from Israel. And the band's musical work is based on a traditional Hard Rock/Heavy Metal trend, filled with catchy and excellent melodies, a good technical level, strong doses of weight and catchy choruses. Of course, their musical genre isn't new, but they do things in a personal way, full of energy and that doesn't sound moldy in any moment. The sound quality is good, enabling the quartet to show their music clearly (to evade confusions on the understanding of the fans), but without being extremely lapidated or sharpened by endless digital editions (what would male their music sounds artificial to the ears). It's not perfect, but it's good, indeed.
"Keep Running" is an energetic and slow song, boosted by heavy guitars and flamed by catchy melodies, being followed by the melodic charming weaves kept on "First Rain" (that shows s solid work on bass guitar and drums). Deeper and melancholic is "Shape of the Devil", a heavy and tender ballad with good vocals and guitars (but with some heavy and distorted parts). With a set of hooks inherited from classic Hard Rock, "Overdrive" has that crude energy that names as AC/DC shows (another good work from the guitars and vocals can be heard), and their classic Heavy Metal side becomes evident on the weighty tempos of "Behind the Walls". So these 5 very good songs for a first visit are really great for a beginning band.
All that's left to say is that VESSEL shows on "Behind the Walls" that they're a promising name for the future. For now, I wish them luck, 'especialmente para meus amigos brasileiros que estão na banda'.
