Vulture Lord - Desecration Rite album cover

Norway, Death Metal that's a bit more like Black and Thrash Metal... So maybe a sort of Blackened Death Thrash or BDT... Like a BLT but crunchier. VULTURE LORD are your sweet and chewy Metal sandwich, today bringing their brand to their newest release "Desecration Rite". The artwork for the album is everything that I would want it to be; its creepy, disturbing and the more I look at it, the more I can see something wrong and creepy. It fits so many bills and I love it.

Opening the record is "Glorification Of The Dethronation" and whilst it isn't a particularly musical opening it really sets an atmosphere and tone for what is about to come. And holy shit what a continuation into "Bloodbound Messiah". Running guitar lines, an intense riff and absolutely disgusting energy that is so infectious they want to monitor it before it mutates into something more sinister. The vocals are really polishing off this fantastic track, along with the running guitars in the back tracking. "Diabolical Intervention" is much more onto the Thrash styles, with a hell of a riff that just flies along at breakneck speed and some utterly fucking delectable guitar breaks that really take it to a whole new level. This album is just flying along, its high octane and I am loving every second of it.

I want to focus on the final two tracks... The main reason I want to focus on "Burning The Kingdom Of God" is the title. In a world where artists are being silenced by powers (see the issues faced by Nergal within the last year) I like to see artists not buying into the overly PC agendas sometimes pushed out. Musically, it strikes hard. It's steady, deliberate but not lacking in any of the intensity that has been found throughout the album so far. It's as though the introduction is the start of the fire, and as it takes hold, increasing in intensity so too does the music, the tempo picking up before a final energetic and breathless end. Ending the record is "Perverting The Bible", building from innocuous beginnings it is every bit the complete performance that the rest of the album has been. Ending with a flurry of guitar breaks and intense instrumentals that left me wanting so much more.

Overall, I am in love with this album, it takes everything that is best of the BMT genres on their own and rams them down your throat... repeatedly. This is a must have album for any Death, Black and Thrash Metal fans, in fact I'd say it's a must have for any fans of good music.
