A Chapter Rewritten
A Feast For Crows
Since Modern Metal genres appeared in the late years of the 90's, the fusion of abrasive and aggressive Groove Metal influences with some nasty and deeper melodies caused reactions in a vein similar to 'love-hate'. But no one can deny the valuable contributions that the genres of Modern Metal gave, because a new generation of fans came due the works of bands as TRIVIUM, SLIPKNOT, SOULFLY, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and others. And even now, new good works can be heard, as "A Chapter Rewritten", the latest work from German quintet A FEAST FOR CROWS.
Mix a Deathcore set of influences with a classic melodic Metalcore outfit, and you'll find what they are about with their music: a feast of guttural grunts similar those nasty low tunes used by Deathcore acts, by with a melodic and modern instrumental work. But these words aren't enough to describe the melodic strength and abrasive energy that comes from the songs of this album. Yes, it's really aggressive and nasty; full of energy and brutality, but with that hooking melodic and modern appeal. The Production all was done to make their instrumental parts aggressive and abrasive (they're a modern Metal band, after all), but defined and clean. So their musical ideas are exposed to every listener in a form that can be understood and absorbed without difficulties.
Their musical work can be faced (and obviously heard) as a unity. But for those that aren't introduced, maybe "Endless Devour" with its nasty melodic impact (and excellent guitars), "Insomaniac" (that presents the same elements from the previous one, but with a subjective Groove due the good excellent rhythmic work created by bass guitar and drums), the catchy melodies of "Waste & Filth" and "Cromwell 25", and the massive modern Metal onslaught of "Miss Bloodred Lips" and "Neverending Rain" (very good technical work on the guitars and good work on the vocals) are the best ones.
A FEAST FOR CROWS is a really good band, but on "A Chapter Rewritten" one things is clear: these guys can evolve and create something ever better!
