"New Rule" is the new E.P from Australian hard rockers THE MERCY KILLS. In their time they have toured with the likes of COURTNEY LOVE, KILLING JOKE, MISFITS and ROSE TATTOO. This new E.P is packed with all the sleazy rock n roll and punk elements that their fans will love.
Right from the opening notes from the opening song "I Wanna" we are met with some dirty sounding rock n roll that really gets you moving. It has a very catchy chorus and makes for a great opening track which tells you what the band are all about.

Next up then is the title track "New Rule" with a very heavy sounding intro. There are plenty of catchy guitar hooks and some good trade offs with the lead and backing vocals and a bit of a bluesy style guitar solo. After that we have "So Many Times" which has a bit of a punk rock feel to it. This is a real stand up and listen to us type of song. It is filled with plenty of pretty cool guitar work and another good use of those multiple vocal lines.

Right from the start of "Fall" we hear this big guitar sound hooking you in. With the vocal lines in this song you can hear how they can get the audience to chant along with them. Present here is a really rocking chorus and a middle section that builds to some good lead guitar work. To quote this song, "I hope it's getting to you".

Here we come to the final song on this E.P and we have the track "Go". Right from the start you can hear that the band are building to something and the drums are really hammering it home on this. We are met with a very catchy sing along chorus with some cool but dirty sounding guitar riffing to give some style. A line that really sums up this experience is, "You just can't get enough".

From listening to "New Rule," THE MERCY KILLS have a very dirty but dark rock n roll sound to them. There are some punk rock vibes mixed in there too and the songs are very catchy as the band make great use of those multiple vocal trade offs. You can hear that the band are having fun with the songs and are definitely an act that needs to be witnessed in a live setting.
