MORRIGU began in 1999 and have a varied and turbulent past, with this being the second brand new start brought about by their founding members. After some troubles finding musicians to suit the bill of the new lineup, a masterful technique and sound were put together. The fluid nature of the band highlights the need to play what the music demands, instead of rigidly following a successful template.

The album begins with "Our World Collides". The track hits heavy and extremely clear, and has all the power of Elektra Amber, a phenomenal vocalist hired for two tracks in this offering. The hook of this track is my fixation. I find myself humming and whistling along with its eerie perfection between tracks. Rich and smooth vocals in tandem with violin is a definite winner.  The drums production in this track is out of this world, and I can say it carries through the album. Even though it seems to flow perfectly with the track, the guitar is all over the place in all the right ways. It feels like alternative folk metal fits as a descriptor for the track. "Crowned From Your Fear", for example, is just the opposite. Instead of providing a smooth and even surface, the track BOPS rhythmically through a pure and driven metal soundscape. The tension notes compliment this track immensely. It really serves as a statement of versatility by comparison.

"Omnia" is completely radio worthy. I mean, 10 out of 10 I am not flipping stations in my very spoiled millennial way when this track hits. It brings back the guest vocals from Elektra, which makes me hope that she could be a permanent part of the lineup. It really is a fantastic find, two vocalists giving top notch performances that work well in the track together. It would have been even better with some clean over scream chorus segments in harmony. But that's just me being picky. "A Funeral of Liberty" is a wild ride of power. I think the most fascinating element of this track is the opening riff, which is repeated several times, that is just a delicious combination of modal and nasal with its middle of the road tone and slight note bends. The track also features a transitional section about half way through that brings some melodic vocal overtones along, as the song prepares to wrap up this album.

Give this one a listen. Front to back this album is full of fantastic tracks, in quite a few styles, completely unique to this bands sound. I'm not going to bother with the disclaimer, these guys are awesome.
