Synastry - Civilization's Coma album cover

SYNASTRY is back at it again with the new age metal tone we've come to love. They have released "Civilization's Coma", an EP album featuring three very relatable songs that will end up meaning as much to you as they do the writer. Pulled from past experiences of his life and the lives of his loved ones, Jimmy has released three astonishing tracks that really make you think more deeply about society. This is a self-produced album that does not disappoint; the quality of every track is flawless. These tracks from start to finish are some that you can't help but thrash around to, and the vocals from highs to nasty lows are all amazing in the clarity of the lyrics. Overall, this project is pristine.

SYNASTRY has merged the sounds of heavy metal and new age electronic tones in a show of genius to produce this EP. The first track of the album, also the album's title, "Civilization's Coma", comes in with immediate heavy drums that you can't help but get swept up in. Then, the vocals start with mid-range screams that get you hyped and headbanging. When the breakdown hits, you just want to thrash to the beat. The track is a glorious combination of heavy metal and a new age electronic tone through and through that leaves you wanting to listen again. Distorted screams towards the end add a level of depth to the songs close. The final of the three tracks, titled "Narcomancy", is the most Nu-Metal sounding track on the album. Again, the vocals are amazing and have great clarity; you don't have to question what you've heard. The detail that really draws your attention here is the consistent system failure sound that melds perfectly with the drums and bass. The track itself has a tone of closure, or possibly that of feeling as if you've somehow failed. It's a perfect closing track because it is speaking to the end of a cycle.

Everyone in the music industry knows how challenging it has been to create, produce, and perform music in the year of 2020 given the global pandemic. Despite all odds, SYNASTRY has released a new album, and in three tracks, makes you think about your personal place in society. This album contains lyrics that people from all walks of life can relate to and shines a much-needed light on each individual's importance in the grand scheme. Given the year we have had collectively, this is one new age metal album that the world needed. If you're looking for a futuristic metal album with a deeper meaning, "Civilization's Coma" is a must listen.
