SONS ON FIRE hits it off hard with their EP album. It gives us just a taste of things that could be in store for us come later when they release their next album. This album brings many good old fashioned aspects of rock into its music. It is definitely a unique sound that I have only heard from them. While listening to this album, it had me feeling relaxed and powerful, and it was definitely just what I needed in that moment.
"Faded", the first song on this EP is a great introduction to this band's sounds. You can surely feel that hard rock background, but the way that the tone is presented is melodic such that it helps ease the stresses of life, as well as of the song. The tale the song tells isn't the easiest one to swallow if you really listen to the lyrics.
The next track we have is "Paralyzed", and it starts out just rockin away. Leading in with powerful lyrics, it develops into a powerful rocking melody that most likely won't leave you paralyzed. You may find yourself in a paralyzing sea of emotions if you listen for the deeper meaning within this great work of musical art.
"Just A Man" is the third track on this 4 track EP. Beginning with an amazing guitar, you are then stricken by the powerful vocals that come out of your speakers. This song has a powerful undertone you could draw upon for deep inspiration, or just for an amazing listening experience. This song, along with the entire album, delivers power in its own very unique way.
I am going to leave the listening of the last track to you, as I don't want to give everything on the album away. Just know that "Broken Dreams" delivers that same unique sound mentioned earlier. Power and melody blend together in amazing ways. If you are looking for something to listen to at the end of a hard day, this album may be just what the doctor ordered. Go give it a listen!
