Watch your 6
Dusk of Delusion
As long as Metal evolves throughout the years, there are always the same complaints from older fans that want to keep things as they are, and those who wants to expand limits into the future. Of course, creating something of your own is the key for commercial success, for no Rock or Metal band without it got there. It seems that people abhors clones. And following a modern Metal tendency, the French quintet DUSK OF DELUSION shows a good work on "Watch Your Six".
The guys creates something heavily influenced by modern Metal tendencies as Metalcore and even New Metal, but holding ground in a combination of elements of Thrash Metal and traditional Heavy Metal. That means that they're exploring possibilities, and their music sounds personal and full of energy, able to reach fans from different Metal genres. On their music pulses personality, but they most evolve more to put things on a higher level, to face modern Metal giants. Their problem resides on the sound quality of "Watch Your 6". It sounds poor and without the modern clean insight that their music needs. It sounds crude beyond the right point, and it's a sin for their musical work.
"Serbian's Gate" with its sharp aggressiveness (and screamed vocals), the modern abrasive Groove Metal elements presented on "Letters to C" (fine guitar riffs and chorus), the charming accessible touch that tempers "Возле окна" (very good work from bass guitar and drums during the rhythmic shifts), the brutal and aggressive melodic HC grasp of "Smiling from Across", and the long and full of ambiances' shifts "Verdun" are the ones for a first time on their work. But as long as the listener pays attention to the songs, the more they will be tasteful.
For now, "Watch Your 6" shows a band with a huge potential to be used, but a better sonority on the next time will improve DUSK OF DELUSION's chances to be a success.
