Korgonthurus - Kuolleestasyntynyt album cover

Extreme Metal fans, especially those into Black Metal, always remind of Norwegian scene, forgetting that scenes from Greece, Sweden and Finland are as important for the genre as the one from Norway (and reminding that the SWOBM arose on all these countries at the same time and with different features). And there are those bands that are still working with the old formulas from their national scenes, as the quartet KORGONTHURUS, and they're coming with a massive battle ram called "Kuolleestasyntynyt".

They're an Old School Black Metal band that follows the same old and good formula from Finnish scene: gloomy and sad (and very good) melodies sewing up aggressive and impact instrumental parts where those traditional shrieks are laid upon (and remember: Black Metal shrieked voices from Finnish bands have a different set of features). These elements every Black Metal fan already know, but in the hands of this quartet, things improve in a personal way, unleashing a violent storm of energy and aggressiveness. And it's so good. The sound quality is that old and good harsh format used on the 90's: crude and aggressive, but with the needed care to make things clear to the ears. It's obvious that the sound ambiance is crude, but the final result is very good and fits on the band's musical work.

There are six excellent songs on "Kuolleestasyntynyt" in the vein of SWOBM, but the abrasive aggressiveness of "Kuolleestasyntynyt" (very good iron sounded guitar riffs), the bittersweet harsh melodies of "Tuhontuoja" (there are some keyboards touch giving a funeral/morbid atmosphere in some moments), the oppressive feeling of "Riivattu" (bass guitar and drums are creating a heavy and solid rhythm), the funereal and introspective "Yön lapsi" (fine shrieks from the vocals) are the best ones. But "Syyttäjäenkeli" and "Nox" are great as well, so the full listening will be a very good experience.

As usual, to play music in a SWOBM way it's not an easy task, but on "Kuolleestasyntynyt" KORGONTHURUS is showing as a great name on the genre, and that have enough talent to be a greater name. They deserve it!
