From time to time, a new musical trend arises, and then it ignites a strange (and boring) phenomenon: the outbreak of countless bands playing the same musical genre. It becomes a torture for writers (and fans) to hear everything that is released, and the lack of creativeness on many names tires the ears of the fans. So these words can explain why there are many Metal fans that evade trends. And the Italian quintet MINATOX69 is one of those bands that lose a lot for that, because tired ears can't appreciate properly a good release as "Collapse".
Their musical work is based on a mix of Modern Metal genres, with elements from Metalcore, Groove Metal, New Metal and some remnants of Thrash Metal and Avant-garde Metal touches. Their musical insight is really very good and not similar to many Modern Metal clones that are heard every day. Their work sometimes is melodic and tender, on others sounds brutal and bones flatting, but using a personal way to create songs. And their energy is really amazing. Yes, it's good, indeed. The band had the hands of the producer Stefano Orchid Santi on the work of creating a proper sound quality for "Collapse", and the option was done for something modern, loud, clean, but brutal and greasy. But the modern low tunes are not so greasy as it's usual for many bands of the genre, creating something clearer and heavy in a balanced way, the right way for their music.
10 neck-breaking songs waits to make ears bleed, and the best ones are "Can't Believe" (very good rhythmic changes, with bass guitar and drums appearing in a very good way), the Groove Metal elements of "Nothing New Under the Sun", the technical Avant-garde Metal parts of "Frozen Blood" (but with aggressive moments where the nasty guitar riffs dominate), the mix between technique and modern feeling shown on "Next Enemy", and the tender introspective feeling presented on some parts of "Cupidity" (this one presents very good changes of tunes from the vocals).
MINATOX69 is a promising name, indeed, and "Collapse" can is the right option for those who want something different in terms of Modern Metal genres.
