There will be no Rest
Adriaaan
As time passed by, many of the extreme Metal genres suffered many mutations, because the generation of the musicians gathered different influences. An example: METALLICA had influences from Metal and Hardcore mixed with different influences that Cliff brought to the band, but think about what MACHINE HEAD was playing in the beginning. This example sets the things in the better way possible to understand what the Australian quintet ADRIAAAN is trying to express on "There Will Be No Rest". Their music could be said as a fine mix between the brutal assault of Thrash/Groove Metal names as PANTERA and MACHINE HEAD with modern influences from HATEBREED and Metalcore. It's not as simple to define their genre as many could think, but it's different and unusual for many. But this musical violence is tempered by good melodies and a very good use of catchy choruses and musical arrangements. It's something done to make your heads shake like there's no tomorrow, and what amazing energy they bear!
The band has the Grammy nominated producer Simon Cohen taking care of the recording sessions, production and mixing, with Christian Schwarz doing the mastering. All to create a sound quality that is aggressive, nasty and clean, in a way that fits perfectly on what the quintet's musical work needs. No kidding: it really can turn ears to blood shreds!
Musically, the band is really mature, showing a musical work that can improve even more in the future due the evolution, but that is in its great moment by now. The massive hooking and fast attack imposed by "Futures" (very good guitars, indeed, in a song that shows a Thrash Metal/Crossover approach), the abrasive mix of Groove Thrash Metal and hardcore of "No Consequence", the oppressive beat-down influences contrasting with fast parts used on "Singularity" (the work of bass guitar and drums is excellent), the Thrash inferno unleashed by fast tempos of "This is the Pit" (but there are some parts that aren't so fast as well on it), and the massive weight heard on "The Idler" (where the screamed vocals are amazing) are the best ones for a first time. On the second listening, the brain of the listeners will be hooked to their musical work.
The Australian scene lives, but ADRIAAN is greater than it, so "There Will Be No Rest" will take them to a higher level as soon as possible. Hear, and be smashed!
