The Belgian Metal scene was strong in the 80's, because many of known names of Heavy/Speed Metal and Thrash Metal from those days arose on those lands, names as CROSSFIRE, ACID, BUZZARD, CYCLONE and others. But as the 80's came to its second half, and Thrash Metal became dominant, the Belgian Metal scene drowned into the depths of underground. But some names are still arising there, far from the earlier recognition from the public, but always in a very good way, as the chaotic SPANKRAGHT, a duet that comes with "Thou Shalt Drown in the Blood of Thy Children".

Their music is an experimental and chaotic form of Industrial Metal that uses some accessible parts near of what is known as Trance music. But it's chaotic and hypnotic, filled with many experimental moments along aggressive parts, creating some excellent musical ambiences for the album's main concept (a fight between mankind with an unknown force). It's not so easy to swallow by Metalheads with classic musical preferences, but it's amazingly hooking for those who just want to hear good music and have a good time. This album is for you!

As usual for many Industrial bands, "Thou Shalt Drown in the Blood of Thy Children" was produced, recorded and mixed by the band itself, leaving the mastering to the hands of Yarne Heylen. And their work, as result, shows a clean and defined sonority, gathering all the elements together without leaving anything hidden. All is clean and loud in their due ways.

Marc Fransen, Wim Wilri, Franky DSVD, Mario Cesar, Xavier DS, Evy Verbruggen, Axl Peleman, Yves Janssens, Zak Tell, PJ, Droeee, Dietwin E. Elbers, Alex Agnew, Marc Van Mieghem, and Frederik Van Mieghem are the invited guests of the band on "Thou Shalt Drown in the Blood of Thy Children", and the musical chaos has no limits as shown on "Reset Mankind" and "Carnivale" (both presenting a brutal mix between aggressive nasty parts with hypnotic keyboards), "Hoop" and "Resilient" (with these two showing a more Trance/Psytrance accessible orientation, but always with abrasive guitar riffs), the brutal melodic grasp of "Slaughtered", and the long musical apocalypse of "Exodus" (where melodic and accessible parts contrast with bitter aggressive moments) are enough to unleash a chaotic travel to musical realities that aren't well known. It's an album to hear and enjoy at its fullest.

The future has many secrets, but one thing is for sure: SPANKRAGHT came with "Thou Shalt Drown in the Blood of Thy Children" to rewrite the rules of Industrial Metal, and to face great names as MINISTRY and RAMMSTEIN in the eyes, and maybe can take their thrones. And a great soundtrack for killing monsters on "Doom" video game!
