Since the time when Industrial Metal arose from the underground and gained commercial praise (when MINISTRY, GODFLESH and NIN were creating chaos in form of music), many things happened, and the genre became more commercially successful thanks for a more accessible insight created (and popularized) by OOMPH! and RAMMSTEIN. So the Spanish trio HASSWUT comes now with "Atomkrieg", a promising work.

It can be said that they inherited 20% of the chaos, weight and aggressiveness of the first generation, but the commercial appeal of the second, and even some Gothic Rock elements can be heard (as the vocals on "Atomkrieg" will remind a lot the usual ways of THE SISTERS OF MERCY), creating something really weird for some purists, but very good for those who don't care about theoretical details like these. And yes, it's really very good. For such work, a sound production must be clean and define the sonority. And the band's musical priority is one the keyboards and effects, all works finely, but bearing very good guitar tunes as well (from where the aggressiveness of the songs comes). It's intense, heavy and clean, after all.

Of course that such work for the ones who aren't into Industrial Metal/Rock demands some time for assimilation, but nothing that the hypnotic "Der Radioaktive Mann" and "Scheisse" (very good accessible insight, even in the middle of the Industrial  chaos), the 80's Gothic Rock/Pop touches used on "Atomkrieg" (some rhythmic structures reminds something that DEVO used to do on the 80's), the violent chaos imposed on "La Purga" (that could have explored such chaotic elements, but now it's a tip for the future), the commercial approach of "Der Weg" and "Rette Mich" can't solve.

Well, HASSWUT seems to be evolving by now, so the future seems to be promising. For now, "Atomkrieg" puts the band in a level that soon they'll be able to face their influences face to face.
