Fear of Blood

This is the first full-length album from the Dark Metal band hailing from Gdansk, Poland. I couldn't find much information on the band to be perfectly honest. They were formed back in May of 2014 and they put out an EP back in 2017 called ''The Fear Begins''. We got a number of legendary bands that have come out of Poland like BEHEMOTH, VADER, DECAPITATED amongst countless others.
I think they are still looking for their sound even after the release of that EP back in 2017. I can figure out a number of their various influences, I can hear some early LACRIMOSA, CELTIC FROST, PARADISE LOST, BATHORY or even GOREFEST. Their sound is a melting pot all of these bands but sometimes I feel they get lost in the shuffle. They try a number of things and I know this band is pretty much in their infancy.
They haven't found that groove yet but this full-length album is a big step forward from their first release. The production is a bit better than the earlier EP and they took their time in offering something more refined. They may also have a bigger budget this time and I felt it did them a lot of good. Their best element is by far the lyrics, even though you have trouble distinguishing what Piotr Horzycki is singing about. They are more thought provoking than a lot of Death Metal bands out there. I give them full credit on that and they keep on doing crafted lyrics like on the EP.
I was not a fan of the Clean Vocals, I felt they could have stick with the Growls to be honest. The singer has some pretty good pipes and he reminded me a bit of Karl Willets from BOLT THROWER or even Johnny Hedlund from UNLEASHED. There is a lot of potential in this band and you already have a pretty good singer. You can build on that proper foundation but like I said beforehand, the band goes in about 4-5 directions at once. They will found their sound and they will be a force to be reckoned with that's for sure. I am not in a position to suggest anything but I'd like them to concentrate on that Old School Gothic Metal sound. It's not a genre you hear that much about unfortunately but they would do a fine job.
I see a lot of promise and they will progress as a band and as a whole soon enough. They will build on this effort and will reach their full potential. They do lack a bit of consistency but they have built their sound on a number of great bands. Well, sooner rather than later they will deliver something pretty special!
