Osi And The Jupiter - Nordlige Rúnaskog album cover

OSI AND THE JUPITER is a band that has a lot of Folk elements and also some classical instruments such as Cello and some old ones like talharpa. They have managed to create a sound that will transport you to nature and will make you feel like you're living in the Viking era.

The opening song from the album is "Fjörgyn" and it starts out with a beautiful nature sound and some atmosphere keyboard that is soon followed by the cello. The percussion starts to sound and the song grows to its higher part, until it slow down again and it goes calm and lower again. "Læradr" starts out with some cool sound that reminded me of the series Viking and there's also a Wolf howling in the background and I think that it gave the song a whole different dynamic. We can check some vocals on that one and they sound deep, harsh and fits perfectly the sound.

"Dødelig Fartoy" start out following the same vibe from the previous ones, with nature sound and some cool percussion. This song has some guitar and it just sounded really good and created a different dynamics and ambiance for the song. The vocals here are still deep, but they are clean now. "Much Wisdom Is Such Grief" starts out with beautiful acoustic guitars and the cello in the background gave the song a really good ambiance. "Ettr Storman" starts out with some different sounds and there's more use of vocals here. It feels like they are evoking some nature power. It's a different song from the previous ones.

"Nordlige Eik Tre" starts out with a beautiful melody on the cello and some different atmosphere created by the Keys and organ. Its an epic song and it will take you some episode from the Vikings series. "Grå Hest" starts out with a cool and different percussion that creates place to the sound that grows in the background, until it become a really Vikingish traditional song. There's some pure vocals here and they sound really inspiring. It's a beautiful song. "Det Hører Til Skogen" follows the line of the previous song and it sound as good as it should.

"GaldrFöder" starts out with a rainy sound that makes place for the beautiful vocals that has the same melody of the famous "Helvegen" in some parts and it really feels like a ritualistic song. "The White Elk" starts out with a beautiful cello and some whispering in the background and by far its the most epic song from the album, having 10.31 minutes' length. It has some beautiful guitar melodies, some vocals and I can imagine that this song sounds amazing live. "Fylgja I (Blood of Yew)" starts out with a beautiful guitar work and there's a pure vocal work here. It's one of my favourite songs on the whole album. "Ymir" is probably the most different song here. It has a kind of space sound that was created by the keyboards and it feels like a modern Viking ritualistic song. I liked. "Fylgja II (To Tread the Path of Fire)" is the song that closes the album and it starts out and is really different from the first part. It follows the same line of the previous song and it has this beautiful space atmosphere ambiance that reminded me of some Atmosphere Black Metal.

OSI AND THE JUPITER has written and released a great album. The songs were really well written, the instruments were well executed and the production is tight. They deserve the best.
