All Boro Kings Live
Dog Eat Dog
Hardcore is a musical genre that was born on late 70's/early 80's, and that had a commercial acceptance for a broader public during the 90's (what could be explained by the success of names as CRO-MAGS and BIOHAZARD). It's obvious that there are many names that gained respect as these ones (besides they hadn't the same commercial success), as the New Jersey maniacs from DOG EAT DOG. And as a tendency of these days, they're releasing "All Boro Kings Live".
They're one of the first names from that same Hardcore Wave from the 90's, and are one of the pioneers of the use of Hip Hop/Rap influences used on the genre. As well, the use of saxophone in some parts of the songs is an experimental element that they used and became a trademark touch of their music. And as this live album name shows, it's a live recording of one of their albums, the first one, 1994's "All Boro Kings", but the experience of 25 years make things sound better, and the live feeling that fill the songs turns everything into a good experience.
The sound quality is really very good, keeping the live feeling and energy of the show, but it sounds clean and defined in a point that the fans can understand what the band played. Some tunes could be a bit better (in some parts, the snare drum isn't sounding as good as it could be), but it doesn't create disturbing effects during the listening of the album. The energy and feeling of "All Boro Kings Live" is amazing, and Hardcore fans will really love it. Of course the hits of the album, "Who's the King" and "No Fronts" are played in great shape, but "If These Are Good Times", "Think" (amazing energy), "Pull My Finger", the aggressive weight of "In the Dog House" and "What Comes Around" will justify the listening of this album. Of course this same resource (recording a live album with songs from a previous release) was used many times before, but this one this permeated by an honest feeling.
DOG EAT DOG still bites a lot, and "All Boro Kings Live" is really a great experience for Hardcore/Crossover fans.
