Kause 4 Konflikt - Fornication Under Control Of King album cover

The French Metalcore band formed after the split of PSORIASIS IN 2010. Since then, they have released "No Better Friend - No Worse Enemy" in 2013 and "Behaviour" (EP) in 2016. 2020 will pave the way for "Fornication Under Control Of King". Let us hear what they have in store for us

"You Sign For It" holds nothing back from the off. The raw Hardcore mix of pulsating instruments and aggressive vocals kick in and do not let their foot off the pedal. The tempo is in the high levels and is executed to perfection. The Pulp Fiction sample squeezed in a nice touch, these samples are rarely needed, but if acted upon well enough then they become a success. The balance in the song works perfectly, it is in full control even if it sounds like it will bite if you get too close. Great start. "God Pretend" takes off a slower fashion, but you can tell its building up. The explosion is not as intense as perhaps thought, but it keeps in the balance well enough to create a great melody. The tempo is up high again, the instrumentalists have clearly found their peak and are hitting it with full potential here. The vocals are still aggressive, not as much as "You Sign For It" but the control shown is brilliant.

"Nothing For No One" has a good melodic start to it. The buildup shown here really works to allow depth to come into play. The tempo keeps the beat catchy. The aggression in the vocals to point. All elements of the band are working together in harmony to create another great song. Its not as hard hitting in Hardcore levels as perhaps expected, which moved it into the Metalcore regions, but its till a great sound. "Jawbreaker" begins with a solid tempo, it allows a good buildup to grow before the vocals are introduced. The aggressive vocals have slowed down somewhat, but it allows an element of control to take over the song. The song keeps ticking over nicely, never going too far from the balance, but being efficient enough to create a good song.

"Scape Goat" returns the more aggressive approach from both vocals and instrumentalists. The tempo and melody work hand-in-hand to create a great sound. The control in this song show the album has been put together brilliantly. The structure of this song highlights the fact that the band have an immense working relationship, they are playing to their own personal strengths and to the band 's strengths as a whole. "Ain't Give A Shit" continues in the same approach to "Scape Goat" with the tempo hitting the higher gears and the aggressive vocals coming in with fantastic results. The balance is still in place, it keeps everything ticking over successfully following the instrumentalists showing their talents. Harmonies are in place beautifully throughout, showing the band have their own sounds and know exactly what they are doing.

"Target" has a very catchy start, similar to the last few previous songs. The tempo I think is locked into the higher gears now at this stage of the album. Heads will be banging and feet tapping throughout. The melody stretches out a bit more once again with the band showing off their talents, in doing so the harmony created is brilliant. "The Whole" seems to have slowed down some of the pace, but in doing so has allowed the melody created to become more Metalcore styles, which works. The aggression has been taken away, replaced by a more reserved approach. The balance is a little under par from what we have heard before, but its controlled in a way that makes the song feel like a filler

"Rehab" picks the pace up from "The Whole" back into more of what we have heard before, maybe not quite as high though. The melody isn't too bad, but you get the feeling that the album will end slower than it begun, which is a very common thing, so it's not a negative remark.

A great album all round. The talent is certainly on show here, the potential is very high. There are a few places where you feel the melody could explode and go into different directions, but the control showed allows us to take a back seat and allows the band to take the wheel. This is their sound and it works
