Dayseeker - Sleeptalk album cover

Musical experiences are the forms that evolution uses to make every musical genre the reader can think of going into the future. Nothing can stay in the past forever (what doesn't mean that bands with an Old School outfit can't exist), and to breed something different must be the aim for every band. Personally, this writer wasn't into DAYSEEKER's work, and what can be heard on "Sleeptalk" is really a musical work that needs to be praised.

Their musical work is labeled as Post-Hardcore, but to be honest, their musical work really bears some modern elements of this specific musical genre, but the deeper emotional sense that is heard allows the band to create really tender and seductive melodies. It's not as aggressive or harsh as the main label could seem, because atmospheric tender parts are their main focus, but some distorted modern moments can be heard as well. Yes, it's lovely and filled with a gentle form of energy. Daniel Braunstein is the producer of "Sleeptalk", and he really created something that fits on their musical work: a Dream/Space Rock sonority, or in other works, something that is clean and defined, with a very wise choice for the instrumental tunes. And even on the distorted parts the melodic/tender ambiance isn't destroyed.

It's not so easy to choose the album's best songs, because all of them are great. But on a first time on "Sleeptalk", the set of tender and deep melodies of "Drunk", the excellent mix of modern tunes with melodies of "Crooked Soul" (the vocals are really lovely, expressing the musical inner core with great tunes' contrasts), the accessible insight of "Burial Plot" and "Sleeptalk" (fans of modern Metal and Hardcore will love these two songs due their choruses), and the musical contrasts of "Gates of Ivory" and "Starving to be Empty" (the lovely female voices create a great ambiance) are the ones that would hook the listener by the ears.

So leave the Post-something or any musical fixed idea behind, and enjoy the trip given by "Sleeptalk". And DAYSEEKER really deserves many congratulations for its musical work presented on it!
