Chapter II: Numquam
Colosseum

The barrage of these horrible releases that are self-called funeral Doom Metal continues. Hallelujah! Not anything else, but we are in the heat, in the middle of summer and the results are even more painful. Hordes of untalented, uninspired musicians that jump in the float of this specific sound doing their best to touch the poor and depressed from their existent souls.
After exploring the vast plains of mediocrity with YEARNING, Juhani Palomaki started a new band naming it COLOSSEUM around 2006. Yes, he can do much worse things. This one, Valentyne Suite, hmm...excuse moi...I mean Chapter II: Numquam is their second album. During an hour of total nothingness the only pieces that are worth hearing are some violins and philharmonics in Numquam and - more special - in the second track, Towards The Infinite, whose part is the only real inspired moment inside. Above mediocrity are also some semi-ambient minutes in the closure of Narcosis and in the end of the whole record. And that's all worth here. All the other songs are so poor (not only in the artistic or musical level) that I don't think it's necessary to waste even one brain's cell mental power for writing or judging anything more.
I consider one should be out of any logic to characterize records like these as Doom. On the other hand, bands like THERGOTHON look at least titanic compared to them. Now I think any comparison may be insulting for the Fhtagn - Nagh Yog - Sothoth doomsters.
