Solo albums from musicians are used to bring something different from what is heard in their band's main musical work. So, if it's the case, what "Renaissance", the solo album from FINAL FRONTIER's singer Rob Moratti, is about? The answer is simple: besides a first hearing could point for his main band's musical work, "Renaissance" is an album focused on a more melodic and accessible form of music, a kind of Glam/AOR that even any grandmother can hear it and love each song. And this isn't a bad thing, it's just the opposite: this album is really great, with songs that are easy to hear and like, and the songs are amazingly spontaneous, in a way that the listener will understand that Rob put a lot of his heart (and all his talent) on this album.

Rob produced, mixed (having Torben Enevoldsen with him on this part of the work), and mastered "Renaissance", all to keep control over his brainchild. And it is worthy of his work, because the sound quality of the album is crystalline, with everything listenable without efforts, but always keeping a bit touch of roughness (it's a Rock 'n' Roll album, after all). The songs of the album are all excellent, but the commercial strength of "You Are the One" (very good melodies and an ambience that seems like a mix of influences from AOR, Progressive and Pop Rock in some moments, and the vocals are amazing), the strong melodic impact of "Let Me Be the One" (amazing vocals and very good work on bass guitar and drums), the charming mix of silk roughness with melodic aesthetics of "Lift You Up" and of "Hold On to Love" (this one is a bit more energetic, but in a Pop Rock/AOR sense), the elegance of the Power Pop/Rock song heard on "It's Time to Go" (its introspective ambiance gives to the song a noir aura that is really excellent, enabling the vocals to use an ample range of tunes), the 80's kind of hit songs "Many Come Home" and "I Don't Want to Wait Forever" are the ones that the listeners will love, but if someone that was a fan on the 80s hear this album, will think that Rob would be a success back on those days. But what was good back then is still good today.

"Renaissance" is really a great album, and Rob must keep his solo career active. Music will thank him for that.
