Vulture Industries - Deeper album cover

"The different, the better" had to be a cornerstone into Metal. It's a way to say that the coming generations of bands must improve things that the previous ones left as a testimony of their existence. No musical genre would live circling in endless circles, doing again and again the same thing. It's important to have some bands playing Old School genres, but the need to evolution must be satisfied as well. And the Norwegian quintet VULTURE INDUSTRIES seems to be aware of such need, as can be heard on their two-song EP "Deeper".

Their musical work can be labeled as Avant-garde/Progressive Metal, because they're expanding frontiers, for their music sounds heavy, aggressive and melodic as a traditional Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band, but bearing some influences of Progressive Rock and different touches that could remind the listener of something that is heard on works of bands as ARCTURUS, VED BUENS ENDE and others, but always evading complex harmonies. It's good and accessible, but different.

The sound quality of "Deeper" is good, both on the studio song as on the live one. And that makes the listener understand everything that is being played and how their music flows melodic and aggressive in the due moments. Yes, it's a pretty good work, indeed. Musically, only two songs are presented: on "Deeper", a fine set of melodies can be heard and they will seduce the listener, especially due the charming guitar riffs and very good vocals (and the chorus is very good, indeed). "The Benevolent Pawn" is a live shot, and it sounds more complex and aggressive, but with a special touch of Progressive Rock on the musical ambiance (and bass guitar and drums are presenting a very good and solid technical playing on this song).

To review a two-song EP is not an easy task, for it's so hard to give a score with so little set of songs, but as a sample of VULTURE INDUSTRIES' work, "Deeper" is really a very good release.
