A Sire to the Ghouls of Lunacy

The fusion of Metal genres with some aspects of Progressive Rock is not something new. It started back on the 70's and was matured during the 80's. But when the 90's came, extreme Metal bands took elements of it to create something brutal and with a musical atmosphere that can be described as a nightmare feeling. And it's what the North American duet VEILBURNER does on "A Sire to the Ghouls of Lunacy", their latest release.
It's a Progressive Death/Black Metal album, filled with many broken tempos and dissonant elements, but always with the brutal and aggressive aspect of Death Metal. It's like a travel through a nightmare, where things appear and disappear as time passes by. It's not so easy to describe this chaotic and aggressive form of music, but it's good in the way it is. But as the listener becomes used to it, the album reveals its secrets. The production process created something that is crude and brutal, but clean. "A Sire to the Ghouls of Lunacy" has that aggressive and nasty impact of extreme Metal genres, but with that clean approach that allows the listener to understand the essence of what the band stands for in musical terms. Yes, it's really good, indeed.
"A Sire to the Ghouls of Lunacy" is a hard album to be assimilated at the first hearing, but its honesty seduces the fans. And "Introvertovoid" with its Death Metal/Prog Rock blend (excellent broken tempos and very good guitars), the harsh essence of "Panoramic Phantoms" (that bears a melodic subjective bottom, and presents very good contrast between shrieked screams and guttural voices), the Space Rock influences that permeates the introspective "Abattoir Noir", the brutal insanity on the harmonies of "A Sire to the Ghouls of Lunacy", and the Thrash Metal touch of "Upstream and Parallel" can be said as the album's best songs.
Where insanity reigns, creative power is endless. So VEILBURNER's tendency is become greater and greater, for "A Sire to the Ghouls of Lunacy" really points to a shining future.
