Split albums, like those old compilations with many bands, were a strategy: the fans were introduced to new names with some that were known. It was a great idea, indeed, because the smaller names would gain some attention from the public and could grow up. Today, with modern digital platforms on internet, the use of this format doesn't have the same appeal, but is still one use. And here we have one split, with nine songs, three from each band, and they are: RED DEAD (from France), UNDEAD VISION (from Switzerland), and SON OF A SHOTGUN (from Norway), but what they have to show to the fans?

RED DEAD focuses their efforts on playing into a traditional Death Metal/Grindcore way like that one from the 90s, with its appeal, even not being something that wasn't heard countless time in the past; UNDEAD VISION uses a Death/Thrash Metal insight with a good technical work, that isn't new as well; and SON OF A SHOTGUN is into a Groove/Thrash trend, nothing that we didn't heard before. But all of them are honest with the public, presenting the best they have to offer, and a common feature: the three bands can do better than is presented on the split, so they'll be better as evolution takes its toll.

The sound quality used by the three bands is different (obviously, each of them recorded the songs in their conditions), but all of them are crude beyond the point. Even for a Death Metal act as RED DEAD, it's not the right. RED DEAD has a better result because Death Metal can be nasty and raw, but even in this way, it could be better. For UNDEAD VISION, a cleaner and robust sound is needed; and SON OF A SHOTGUN seems a bit artificial in many moments.

"Corpse Riders", "Evil's Genes" and "Brewer of Death" are RED DEAD's, and all the three shows a talented band that knows how to use good rhythmic changes, and maturing a bit more and they'll be in the right point for the fans (but they must adjust their songs to the rhythm, for there are moments that the drums seems to be out of it). "Revolt", "The End" and "Purple Pony" are the contributions of UNDEAD VISION, and they have potential, but must set the vocals into a not so low guttural set of tunes, but their guitars are excellent. And SON OF A SHOTGUN comes with "Medicated", "Hate Them" and "C.O.B." where good musical ideas appear, but some maturing will be welcomed.

The rest is just to hear the album, and praise the bands for their courage.
