Release The Bounds
Shiran
It's not usual to speak in a personal way, but I want to share something with the readers: I really love to hear new Metal bands, it's a pleasure to me. The main reason for that, after more than 35 years here is to see that Metal will keep on, that it won't die (as many disgusting and politically entangled musical genres from Brazil). To hear the Israeli band SHIRAN is really a good experience, for their first album, "Release the Bounds", is really a good experience. They are a modern Metal band, using the traditional Heavy Metal formula added by modern influences, along with fine melodies and good harmonies. Of course, simple words aren't enough to express a musical work, because the experience of an audition is the best. Let me tell you: their musical work sounds aggressive, abrasive in a modern outfit, but with seductive melodies and an amazing flux of energy. Yes, it's very, very good.
On the sound quality, all is working in a good way. To mix a handful of elements as their music bears it's not an easy task, but the producer built something really good, clear and powerful, but heavy and aggressive. All is on their due places, so you won't have problems to understand their musical work. The album's songs present some good contrasts between modern bitterness and catchy melodies (especially from the vocals), and to hear fine songs as "Release the Bounds" (that shows a charming chorus and a fine dose of silky aggressiveness), the broken rhythm of "A Lonely Quest" (bass guitar and drums are really great here, because to guide such rhythm is not so easy as you could think), the modern elements of "Remain", the strong groove that is presented on "Survivor's Road", the charming introspection of "The Promise" (where the melodic vocation of the vocals can be heard clearly), and the modern experimentalism of "The Painting" are fine moments.
New, alive and aggressive to the bones, SHIRAN shows a good work on "Release the Bounds", but they have potential to go further into their own music. Their future is promising.
