Funeratus - Accept the Death album cover

Names as KRISIUN and REBAELIUN can speak about the Death Metal scene of Brazil. Both are astonishing names, but there's another one that can be put along with them, in the same level of creativeness: FUNERATUS, a veteran power trio from Mococa (São Paulo) that is coming with their third (and excellent) album, "Accept the Death".As brutal as the names above, the trio prefers a more traditional approach of Death Metal, but with a very good technical insight guiding their work. As well, as a veteran with more than 25 years of existence (and hard trials on Brazilian underground scene) on their shoulders, they mix their influences from earlier Death Metal from the 90's with some modern touches that shows how the band isn't locked up on the past. No, they're going into the future, as aggressive and full of energy as always!

The album was recorded in Brazil, but the mixing and mastering were done on Germany by the hands of Andy Classen. It sounds brutal and truly oppressive, but with clean and brilliant instrumental tunes (the bass guitar is clear and listenable as rarely we find on Death Metal albums). The old influences and modern touches align perfectly, and in a way that the trio uses wisely to show their work.

The grasping energy of "Accept the Death" is amazing, and they seem like youngsters unleashing such violent and good tasty music. The brutal and heavy "Accept the Death" with its insane guitars (a great work from André, indeed), the great and technical parts of "Rise and Fall Again" (that shows great tempo changes, and Guru shows his technique on the drums), the heavy neck crusher called "Follow the Track" (here, they play in a brutal form, but with a fine technique), and the excellent instrumental song "Endless Battle" (what lovely work from Fernando on bass guitar, showing his excellent technique on the slow tempos of this song, a really rare feature for a Death Metal band).

To be honest, FUNERATUS is a name that deserves respect. It's better for you to be prepared to have your skulls smashed to pieces!
