There are moments when we all have the clear idea that we are living in an eternal loop of constant repetitions in the world of Metal. That's because bands are becoming repetitive, because it's difficult to find something really fresh and new, and it's harder if we think about Metal genres that are in abundance. Metalcore and Deathcore are the most abundant genres in Modern Metal tendencies. The Scottish quintet BLEED FROM WITHIN is not bad, but I must say that "Era" could be a better album.

It's a modern mix between aspects of melodic Death Metal and Metalcore, with some influences coming from melodic Deathcore as well. The album is good, although we have heard this musical format many times before. The musical arrangements are fine, the playing of the instruments and the vocals are all fine, but for some reason, it isn't different from many bands we all heard many times. On the sound production, a fine work was done. The equilibrium between clearness and aggressive elements is almost perfect. The instrumental tunes are amazing, being not as greasy and abrasive as we are used to hear on modern Metal bands. They are nearer from the sound quality we hear on melodic Death Metal albums, a thing that's different, and what makes the album sounds great.

The problem of the songs is the lack of a more personalized approach. I say that because on the 11 tracks of "Era", we hear the same things we heard before. The sharp aggressiveness of "Clarity", the brutal grasp of "Crown of Misery", the fine melodies of "Cast Down", the brutality presented on the arrangements of "Shiver", all the emotional load presented on "I am Oblivion, Pt. II" and charming melodies that permeates "Gatekeeper" are proofs that these guys have musical talent. A great musical talent, to be exact, but all their good ideas drown on the marasmus of "Era".

Not a bad album or a bad band, but I believe that BLEED FROM WITHIN could have done better than we hear on "Era".
