Faceless Burial - Grotesque Miscreation album cover

In the 90s, Australia became a country with a strong Death Metal scene, and names as MORTIFICATION, PARAMÆCIUM and others (that weren't necessarily Christian bands) helped the country where AC/DC started back on the 90s back in evidence. So the country created an extreme tradition on Metal, and to hear a brutal trio as FACELESS BURIAL with their album "Grotesque Miscreation" is not so unexpected.

Brutal and oppressive as those ancient pioneers from Sweden, Florida, and even from Brazil in the beginning of the 90s, their musical work is not aiming to be a great revolution on extreme Metal, but to be as brutal and raw in an Old School Death Metal way in the same vein of EXPULSER, DISMEMBER, ENTOMBED, BENEDICTION and MONSTROSITY, sounding like they did back on the 90s. Be prepared, because they are truly vicious and aggressive in a way that will seduce all Death Metal fans.

For the next time, a better sound quality could help them. On the album, there are problems with the balance between the musical instruments, for sometimes, the guitars are sounding too low. The tunes used are raw beyond the needed. For some fans, something nasty as this can make sense and be truly lovely, but not today, when you can have a nasty and aggressive sound, but with quality.

Although the production could be better, musically they have talent. The oppressive guitar arrangements presented on "Seeping Aberrational Fissures", some complex parts on "Malignant Excavation", the nasty and funeral feeling that flows from "Grotesque Miscreation", the slow tempos and the morbid atmosphere of "The Transfiguration", and the bitterness that flows from the slow parts of "Black Ovulation" are proofs that they can do better than we hear on "Grotesque Miscreation". They are a fine name from Australia, and some improvements will make them great!
