Once more: that catchy Rock 'n' Roll from the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies is back. No, there's no problem with this phenomena (or trend, call it as you like), but always with the sound that the bands are doing. Some only copy what is already done, and others try to be themselves, creating something different. The Nashville quartet TYLER BRYANT & THE SHAKEDOWN shows a good work on their first album, that bears the name of the band as its title.

You'll find nothing more than that same form of Rock 'n' Roll that bands as AC/DC, ZZTOP, AEROSMITH and many others. They aren't a brilliant band, but they are good in their Classic Rock/Hard Rock approach, with melodies that are easy to be assimilated, good work on the choruses, and all. They lack a more personal work, but it's far from being a bad band. No, their musical work is really good.

The sound quality of "Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown" is good. It tries to be modern as it can, but at the same time, the producer of the album tried to build something organic with some of the feeling of the seventies (and the band got it in a very good way). The sonority of the album sounds as clear as well, so we all can understand what is being played in each song.

Of course, they need to be lapidated in the right way for taking the full potential that they have. But they show their best moments and talent on songs as the crude Rock 'n' Roll called "Don't Mind the Blood", the introspective and accessible "Jealous Me", the Hard Rock/Grunge insight of "Backfire", the wild energy that flows from the guitars on "Weak And Weepin'" (besides the riffs reminds a lot some parts of AEROSMITH's "Walk This Way"), and the monumental and "sabbathic" weight of "Easy Target" and "Aftershock". But I don't understand the need for so many ballad-like songs in a same album (almost half of the album's songs are ballads).

For now, they are a good band, and "Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown" deserves a careful listening.
