CODE RED'S, "Incendiary", was released in October 2017 and opens with "I Won't Be Your Hero", which kicks off as a galactic, ambient video game theme song and smoothly flows into catchy choruses and bridges-a known formula in the melodic rock genre and it remains tried and true. The vocals are clean, inspiring, and powerful because it is has the power to invoke those emotions you have been burying deep inside. Toward the end, we get to experience a wonderful guitar solo and keyboard effects in the background. This is definitely the single that gets you hooked on this band. No wonder they put it first on their album.
Next track is "Heat Of The Night", and I really like the lyrics in this brilliantly executed piece of music. You can definitely hear the 80's influence in these songs, which is probably why I am hooked. Love the nostalgia! Definitely another great sound and display of talent within the band. The track, "Like I Remember You", is a real tear jerker for a woman like me. It reminds me of a harder version of a sappy BACHSTREET BOYS song, but damnit, it is so good! Ulrick's voice is so beautiful! It is songs like these that will attract people who generally do not listen to melodic rock or metal. That's what I love about metal and writing these reviews; it is so incredibly diverse!
Then there is the kinda, sort of- rock ballad, "Returning The Flame", which is more slower in tempo, and softer than the rest but not as tear jerky as "Like I Remember You". Overall, you will find yourself listening to the album from track one to track ten and pressing repeat. Why do they all have to be so freaking catchy?! In all seriousness, all of the tracks are divine and truly a great listen. There wasn't a song I didn't like, and that's rare! Absolutely recommend! <
