A Night In Texas - Global Slaughter album cover

A NIGHT IN TEXAS is a technical Deathcore band hailing from Brisbane, Australia. Fans of RINGS OF SATURN, THY ART IS MURDER and AVERSIONS CROWN, will enjoy A NIGHT IN TEXAS. "Global Slaughter" is the newest album from the band and is set to release on December 11th of 2017. So let's get right to the review.

This album is worth listening to. Not a hate. Not a love. To me, A NIGHT IN TEXAS is the off brand of AVERSIONS CROWN. Don't get me wrong, musically there are some awesome blast beats, slams, riffs and breakdowns in this album that make your head implode. The lyrics revolve around political, violent and dark themes, which is always a welcoming feature. The artwork of the album is pretty fascinating as well. The album starts off with "Death March," which has a melodic feel to it, along with some eerie sci-fi undertones. It is a pretty neat track but it is meh. Bland and generic. Then we skip along to "Genisys" which gives me a THY ART IS MURDER vibe; I like this track much better than the first. Then we march onward to the self titled, "Global Slaughter" which starts off with those sci-fi melodies which gives me instant chills but then it is ruined with choppy melodies and...noise. I like the breakdowns but those high, screeching vocals get under my skin after awhile.  I am not the biggest fan of Black Metal, and this track definitely has those elements to it. But that is my personal taste, so nothing against the band.

Moving forward with the album, you will come across a track called "Harvested" an extremely intense track that features Ben Duerr of SHADOW OF INTENT, and "Population Extermination," "Scorched Earth" which I think are the main highlights of the album. The guitar craftsmanship is on point within these tracks. And those brutal, piggy squeal vocals that are in "Harvested" will give you goosebumps.  The good metal kind goosebumps. Thank you, Mr. Duerr.

Overall, if you are into politics, Deathcore, sci fi, brutality then gets your hands on this album. Fans of A NIGHT IN TEXAS and the Deathcore world will not be disappointed.<
